IOM Addresses Migrant Smuggling in Gulf of Aden for Somaliland Border Authorities

Moshi – The International Organization of Migration (IOM), through its African Capacity Building Centre (ACBC) organized a week-long training (1-5 April 2019) in Moshi, the United Republic of Tanzania, on Security Documents and Fraud Detection for nine immigration officials from Somaliland.


Study Highlights Need for Free Movement of Labour in East Africa

Dodoma – A new study has urged member countries of the East African Community (EAC) to adopt labour migration policies based on international best practices, improve data management and boost the operationalization of One Stop Border Posts. The comparative study assesses migration patterns and policy issues in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and the United Republic of Tanzania – four of the six EAC countries.


IOM trains Tanzanian Immigration Officials on Project Development

Moshi - The International Organization for Migration (IOM), through its African Capacity Building Centre (ACBC), in partnership with the IOM Regional Office in East and Horn of Africa, this week (04-08/02) trained immigration officials from the United Republic of Tanzania on project development.

The training was a response to a government request and plan to expand capacity building for immigration officers in Dodoma and Tanga through the Tanzanian Regional Immigration Academy (TRITA).


IOM Trains Tanzanian Immigration and Law Enforcement Officers on Transnational Organized Crime

Moshi – The International Organization for Migration (IOM)’s African Capacity Building Centre (ACBC) and the Tanzania Immigration Service Department (TISD) organized a 4-day training (12-15/02) on transnational organized crime (TOC) for 21 government officers from the United Republic of Tanzania.

The participants included officers from the department of immigration, police and intelligence stationed at Sirare, Tanga, Kilimanjaro, Pwani and Namanga border posts.
